We want to double in the next 3 years.

For our new success story, we spoke to Julia, who works as HR Director for a cyber security solutions distributor.

For the recruitment of 3 employees, she worked with LHC International, more precisely with Nadja Sobe. Nadja has been a Senior Consultant at LHC since 2022 and is responsible for our Office & Management Team.

During the interview for our HR Director Success Story, Julia presented to Margaux her career and her company. She also shared what challenges and goals her company has and why she chose to cooperate with LHC International.

Company:

We are a value-add distributor, which means we are a wholesaler of cyber security solutions in Germany. We don’t just sell a product, but a 360-degree service solution for our customers.

The original company was founded in Münster in 1983 and was bought by a French parent company in 2003. The whole group is global and there are offices all over the world. The sales department in Germany, where I work, focuses on the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) with local customers and about 140 employees.

On the one hand, we work with manufacturers and distribute their products to the German market. The manufacturers are global but mostly come from the USA. On the other hand, we have our customers, whom we call partners. They are usually system houses or similar that bring the products to the market.

We offer 2 main services:

  • Professional Services
  • Training

We are not only a distributor, we call ourselves a value-add distributor because we offer our own technical services. We also have our support team in Münster. Our customers or end-users call us in different languages and time zones to get technical support for their specific needs. The goal is to provide local support and not have to call the manufacturer in the USA, for example.

We also offer training in Münster and Munich but also virtually if needed. Some of the products we sell usually require certification and for this, we have in-house trainers. They conduct the training for this certification for our customers.

Of course, we also have general customer service, replacement service, etc…

Julia

In 2019, I started working for this company as Head of HR. Since 2022, I have been HR Director for the DACH region.

We are a team of 3 people.

Nadja Sobe LHC International

I had been in contact with a former employee of LHC International in the past, but Nadja and I have not worked together yet.

However, I had already worked with Nadja in her former company, and I just kept in touch with her.

Nadja has been working at LHC International since 2022 as a Senior Consultant for the Office & Management Team. She helped me find candidates for an HR Generalist position.

Challenges:

Our biggest challenge is to attract the technical profiles that we need.

We are a fast-growing company; we are building up strongly. We are also growing by about 30% per year in terms of turnover. This means that we have a massive increase in staff and demand. In 2022, we hired 46 new employees.

In the HR department itself, we are only a team of three and therefore need the support of recruitment specialists.

There is also a shortage of skilled workers. It is not easy to find good and qualified candidates in this niche sector of cyber security and that is why we need the network of recruiters like Nadja and LHC International.

Goals:

We want to double in the next 3 years.

Our goal is to continue to grow by 30% per year, which means that we want to double in the next 3 years. We have a margin target, and we can only do it with the right people. At the end of the day, our business is made by people and for that, we need the right skills in the teams.

We have competition, but our industry it is very small, there are not so many specialists in the cybersecurity industry.

To achieve our goal, we need the right people. We need different positions like pre-sales consultants. For this senior job, the candidates need to have a lot of experience.

We also need positions like Key Account Manager or Inside Sales Manager, but these are usually easier to fill in.

Process:

LHC International placed 3 employees with us, I was in contact with Nadja for the HR Generalist position. My colleagues were responsible for the other positions with Alexander Rebolledo (Managing Consultant Sales & Marketing at LHC International).

The contact was great, and Nadja sent us suitable profiles. And it was also easier because we already knew each other. She was always easy to reach, even on Friday afternoons, even though she works part-time. She always made sure that everything worked.

The process was very quick, within a few days we were able to fill in the position

Recruitment in Cyber Security:

For inside sales positions, it is not so complicated to find talent because we can easily train them in-house. We develop these junior positions ourselves. We also develop support engineers internally, for example, so that they can become pre-sales consultants.

Some of our colleagues also started as trainees in support and are now trainers or senior consultants themselves.

For our senior positions like pre-sales, however, candidates must have the technical know-how and know the manufacturers, as well as a lot of experience in the field.
